Why VELAMAR Exists
VELAMAR was born from a personal journey, one that began when I founded the Sustainable Ocean Alliance as a college student in 2014, driven by a deep love for the ocean and a desire to protect it. Over the years, I had the privilege of supporting hundreds of ocean innovators. Their ideas were bold, but again and again, their progress was blocked by the same issue: lack of capital and scalable support.
This exposed a systemic failure in ocean finance. Despite its essential role in global security and economic stability, the ocean remains severely underfunded, fragmented, overlooked, and out of reach for those building real solutions.
VELAMAR is reimagining ocean finance by creating the infrastructure it’s always lacked.
